These are hard to see because they are a timid bird. These birds are endemic to Sri Lanka and South India. We find them mostly in open forests and thorny forests. They are slightly larger than a foot, the body is black, and the head is dark green. The tail is a feather with a green border and a white tip; the neck and abdomen are light green. The beak is green. It is easily recognizable due to the large blue circle around the eye. And that blue color makes them even more beautiful. There is no difference in color between males and females.

They lay their eggs in March and May and often build nests on top of bushes. These birds usually lay two or three eggs. They eat insects and caterpillars and prefer to consume large amounts of berries.
