When we say that sometimes animals are better than us, there is a reason. This gorilla is another reason why that’s true.
There is a good chance that if you live in the animal world, the name John Damian Androcles Aspinall might be familiar to you. It turns out that he is an English multimillionaire who also happens to be one of the best conservationists in the world. His favorite thing to do is rescue gorillas and return them to where they belong. He runs the Aspinall Foundation to help him with his goal.
These gorillas are in captivity at the Howletts Wild Animal Park in England, where they are cared for and nurtured until they are sent to live in the wild in Africa.
Hundreds of gorillas have been saved by Mr. Aspinall so far. Yet, one of them would always be in his heart. When Kwibi was five years old, the businessman took care of him. Kwibi was released to the forests of Gabon (West Africa) in 2005, and the businessman has taken care of him since then.
Five years ago, they last saw each other. So Mr. Aspinall went to see his old friend, but he wasn’t sure if Kwibi would remember him. So, by now, he would be 10 years old and a lot more strong. However, the businessman took his chance.
It took a few hours to find Kwibi in the forest, and the gorilla was shocked. Trust me, words can’t describe how Kwibi felt.
