Moments destined to melt our hearts can sometimes be found in Mother Nature’s most beautiful ways. It doesn’t get any cuter than this ‘curious’ squirrel sniffing flowers.
Dick van Duijin, a 34-year-old Dutch photographer, shot the bizarre but endearing images. During a trip to a flower field outside Vienna, Austria, he came across a squirrel while searching for the best-tasting bloom to eat. After nearly two hours of shooting and more than 200 frames, the photographer finally got the shot he was going for.

‘This curious ground squirrel started smelling and tasting the bloom,’ the photographer explained. “After taking a picture like this, I was incredibly thrilled.”

The little creature may be seen as it “reach[s] for a yellow daisy, touching the blossom to its face. A floral aroma fills the air, and it’s eyes close. The rat leaned in for a juicy bite a few moments later,” the photographer informed SWNS of the encounter. “I traveled to Austria specifically to capture images of the country’s ground squirrel population. “It was a joy to see this happen,” he said.

The Canadian amateur photographer, Steve Biro, could easily compete for the year’s best shot with these charming snaps. For some reason, I’ve never seen a picture like this one from Biro. Despite flying over water, he managed to get the perfect reflection of an eagle.

There are many beautiful photos from the trip, but this one stood out to the photographer because of its symmetry. “And the way he is glaring right through me and looks cruel and powerful really blew me away,” he said. “
