The following pictures were taken by Indonesian nature photographer Anil Prabhakar after a kind person went into the jungle and did the following nice things. When someone got stuck in the mud, a wild orangutan helped them out. He always thought that his work might have the power to make people feel and act differently. In 2019, he started working with the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. He went to the foundation to find out more information about the program.
During a tour of the land that the foundation protects, he saw a crew member go into a small river as they were getting close to the orangutan’s home. He asked the man why he was acting that way. They said someone had seen a snake over there. Orangutans are in danger from snakes that have poison. So those things have to be taken care of. So the guy started cleaning up the bushes along the river. His legs were getting stuck in the mud, making him move slowly. The orangutan suddenly moved closer to the riverbanks, sat down, and watched what this person was doing.
When he struggled to pull his legs out, the orangutan put her left hand on the river bank and her right hand on him. That was a beautiful time. The orangutan didn’t even look at the hand. He went out to help the man for three minutes. He moved away instead.
He didn’t think he’d ever see something like that. The orangutan was helping him.
Prabhakar asked the man why he wouldn’t take the help of the orangutan. He told them that he was only there as a lifeguard and that they shouldn’t bother him.
