It was a sweltering day, with temperatures reaching over 86 degrees Fahrenheit, and Lake Tahoe was inundated with visitors over the weekend. Some of them were surprised on Sunday. A black bear mother and her three cubs decided to join them. Some of the swimmers couldn’t believe what they were seeing. It was clear why they wanted to learn to swim.
The bear family, like everyone else, decided to take a day off and relax at the beach. One of the beachgoers, Jen Watkins, first noticed the bears at Pope Beach. She rushed to her camera to record it.
The bear family has been strolling down the beach without being harassed by a large crowd. However, they had an incident with a dog.
They were taken aback when they saw it. Jen claims that the bear had been out earlier and had become a little hostile, protective of the cubs with a golden retriever.
On the beaches of Lake Tahoe, black bear sightings are common. Even in the summer, they don’t seem to mind the crowds.
At this point, no one was hurt, and the bear family gently strolled away when they were done swimming. Wildlife officials have advised people to be cautious when in the presence of wild animals. Because they are potentially lethal.
