Seeing wildlife can be very delicate, even though most people think of it as fierce and dangerous. It is very impressive to see these two bear cubs holding hands. Wildlife photographer Lewis Kemper was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to capture these stunning images.
#1: The bear cubs hold hands as their mother leads them on a hunting trip
The 62-year-old photographer from California saw the cute picture at Lake Clark National Park. Two cubs were holding hands while watching their mother try to get them dinner. Earlier this month, Lewis was taking pictures around Lake Clark in Alaska when he saw a mother bear and her two cubs waiting for her to come back with food. The bears in the area are used to seeing people, so I was only about 20 feet away from them.
They were looking forward to some fish at the meal, but their mother came back without any. The photographer said the two bears “held hands for almost 20 seconds.” They were excited because they thought their mother would bring them food, but she didn’t. Wildlife experts say bears only catch fish 10% of the time.
Even though most bears like fish, plants are what they eat most of the time. “Even though most bears like fish, the majority of them are omnivores and mostly consume vegetation, including a lot of grass,” Lewis said.
The two cubs aren’t the only animals that have been photographed shaking hands. A couple saw two penguins holding flippers together on a beach in South Africa a few years ago. The cute scene quickly went viral on social media and won the hearts of millions.
