This amazing animal was finally caught on camera after almost 20 years. It might be the most interesting animal in the world. This’magic rabbit’ was found for the first time in 1983. It is also known as Ili Pika or Ochotona Iliensis.
The Ili Pika is a type of mammal that lives in Northwestern China. It is in the family Ochotonidae. But its population is going down right now. Changes in the climate are the main cause of this. There are less than 1,000 left right now.
The animal was first found in remote parts of northwest China. Conservationist Li Weidong named it the “magic rabbit.” Mr. Li Weidong said, “The number of Ili Pika (Ochotona Iliensis) has dropped by about 0% since the early 1980s.” There are less than 1,000 of them left in the wild.
Mr. Li Weidong told CNN, “I found the species and saw how it is in danger.”
He chose to help these little creatures on his own when he saw that no one else was willing to. In 2014, he planned to get 20 volunteers together to find out how many of the cute animal there were and help protect the species. But it’s too bad that most of his savings were used to pay for research that the authorities stopped being interested in.
He said, “This small species could go extinct at any time.” “They Are Not Where They Used To Be.” I’m getting close to 60 years old, and I won’t be able to climb the Tianshan Mountains for a while. “That is why I really hope that a group will study and protect the Ili Pika,” the conservationist said.
